Learning/Teaching/Training activities in Netherlands

From the 6th of May until the 10th of May the final mobility of the Erasmus+ project “4Elements” took place in The Netherlands, at SintLucas Eindhoven.
The participating students and teachers were welcomed at SintLucas Eindhoven by English teacher Inge Berkers and by the headmaster Jaan Vorst. Inge gave a presentation about the school and about Eindhoven. After that students and teachers participated in a Kahoot to test everyone’s knowledge about the Netherlands. After the short break the group was split in two. The Dutch students gave the participants a guided tour around school. After that photos were taken of the students with their Dutch hosts. Learning Dutch was the next workshop, in which the students were asked to translate sentences and to speak them out loud. After this we played language BINGO and MEMORY games. In the afternoon all groups presented their school and the theme wind linked to their own country.
Tuesday was school trip day! We took a bus trip to an old windmill, in which the owner of the mill gave all a tour. The mill was actually working at that time. After the visit to the windmill a visit to DeltaPark Neeltje Jans followed. We took a boat ride over the Oosterschelde where we got to see modern windmills and we saw the storm surge barrier at the Dutch coast. In the DeltaPark we learned more about sea life and we got to see animals like seals and sharks. After that it was time to return to Eindhoven. In the bus everyone was handed out a worksheet to answer questions about their experience and about what they had learned during the school trip day.
During the third day of the exchange, the students started working on the design of their 4Elements app in duos of different nationalities. A number of students excelled with their drawing skills. The students were then given a workshop by our biology teacher Freek Lamberts. The students made their own kite and they were allowed to decorate it themselves. It was raining, which means that trying the kites would have to wait for another day. In the evening it was time for relaxation. The students had a delicious dinner using the typical Dutch grilling stone. Then everyone went bowling.
On the fourth day of the exchange, the students worked out the design of their app in the MarvelApp program. The results are impressive. Then it was time to put on sportswear. The students were given a mix of different sports activities and then went into town for the WhatsApp tour. The groups received a number of assignments via WhatsApp to get to know the center of Eindhoven a little better.
During the last day of the exchange, the students were given workshops in making a PopArt and a Vincent van Gogh painting from their own photo. Then they made their own eMagazine with reports of the week and with their opinion about the exchange. In the afternoon it was time for the closing ceremony while enjoying a drink and a snack.
